Compassionate Communication guides us past the labels of judgment and criticism that society has trained us to use when explaining our own or others’ behavior. Instead of staying in those negative stories, we can go back to our original way of relating to ourselves and each other: with compassion. I apply the language and consciousness of Nonviolent Communication-or Compassionate Communication-based on the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication, www.cnvc.org. This language gives us a format for understanding and connecting more deeply.
